For
visitors who wish to understand and
appreciate Chinese culture, history,
folklore and Confucian ideology, a
visit to Haw Par Villa is a must.
Built in 1937 by Aw Boon Haw, tiger
balm king, the villa was originally
designed for his younger brother,
but was later turned into an amusement
park. The name 'Haw Par Villa 'translates
into the house of tiger and leopard.
The park houses a collection of
over 1000 colors, giant statues
and 150 tables, focusing on Chinese
mythology and new editions include
the House of Jade, which displays
the Haw’s family collection
of jades and tiger cars, a replica
of the car belonging to Aw Boon
Haw.
